3=2+1, 2017

3=2+1 was created for Leaning Out of Windows, a four-year long interdisciplinary art and science project funded by Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. In the second phase of this project, Khan Lee was partnered with theoretical physicist David Morrissey.

Through this partnership, Lee equates artistic and scientific processes. Lee also explores Matter/Anti-matter through the scientific equation 3=2+1. While “2” suggests opposite forces of nature as a whole, “1” suggests volume of the unknown. Although “3” suggests the whole, 2 (known pair) has equal volume to 1 (unknown) as it gets discovered.
